Description of DIN 2502 Slip On Flanges:
DIN 2502 Slip On Flanges are a type of flange that conforms to the DIN (Deutsches Institut für Normung) standard and is widely used in industrial piping systems for connecting pipes, valves, and equipment. These flanges are designed to allow the pipe to slide into the bore or center of the flange, enabling welding around the outer diameter (OD) of the pipe and on the interior side of the connection.
A key advantage of DIN 2502 slip on flanges is their flexibility in adjusting the pipe length relative to the flange position. Unlike weld neck flanges, DIN 2502 slip on flanges do not have a weld bevel, providing more flexibility in pipe length adjustments. The bore of the DIN 2502 slip on flange offers ample space for the pipe to fit, allowing sufficient working space for welders and fabricators during the connection process.
In lower pressure applications, DIN 2502 slip on flanges often feature a hub similar in dimensions to a raised face flange. Alternatively, they can be supplied without a hub in cases where space is limited, making a "ring style" slip-on more suitable. For higher pressure classes, slip-ons may adopt the height of a lap joint to ensure a stronger connection. If hub height is not a concern and a lap joint style flange is not readily available, customers may choose a slip on flange designed to a lap joint style with a machined hub.
DIN 2502 slip on flanges offer a simple and practical solution for pipe connections in various applications. Their versatility, ease of installation, and availability in different configurations make them a popular choice for many piping systems.

Advantages of Carbon Steel Slip On Flanges:
The carbon steel slip on flange not only conserves space and reduces weight but also ensures leak-free joints with excellent sealing performance. The compact flange size is reduced by minimizing the seal diameter, leading to a reduction in the seal surface cross-section. Additionally, the flange gasket is replaced by a sealing ring to ensure optimal matching of the sealing surfaces. Consequently, only minimal pressure is required to compress the sealing surface. With the reduced pressure requirements, the size and quantity of bolts can be correspondingly decreased, resulting in the creation of a new product that is smaller in size and lighter in weight (70% - 80% lighter than traditional flanges). As a result, the carbon steel slip on flange represents a high-quality flange product that reduces weight and space, playing a crucial role in industrial applications.
The Most Common Materials of Carbon Steel Slip On Flanges:
A common and widely used material grade for carbon steel flanges is A105 forged carbon steel. They are designed to withstand temperatures ranging from ambient up to 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit and pressures between 20 to 6,170 psi. Carbon steel flanges are known for their wide temperature and pressure range, which makes them suitable for numerous industrial applications. Additionally, they are often chosen for their cost-effectiveness.
Modern carbon steel typically contains a carbon content of up to 2.1% by weight and is primarily alloyed with iron. The term "carbon steel" is sometimes used to refer to steel that does not have a significant amount of chromium or nickel. The carbon content in A105 flanges can vary, with a maximum allowable carbon composition of 0.35%. Increasing the carbon content in steel leads to increased hardness and strength, achieved through heat treatment processes such as quenching, tempering, and normalizing. However, as carbon steel is treated, it becomes less ductile and more brittle. This can make shaping and welding slightly more challenging. Despite this, the benefits of carbon steel in terms of its wide temperature and pressure range often outweigh the extra effort required for forming weld seals.
In terms of trace elements, A105 carbon steel flanges do not require any specified minimum content of alloy elements like molybdenum, nickel, chromium, titanium, or vanadium.
