Introduction of ASME B16.9 Stainless Steel Reducing Cross:

The ASME B16.9 standard specifies the requirements for factory-made wrought stainless steel butt-welding fittings, including the Stainless Steel Reducing Cross. This type of cross fitting is designed to connect and intersect pipes of different sizes in a piping system while maintaining a reduced outlet size.

 

The Stainless Steel Reducing Cross is manufactured in accordance with ASME B16.9 using high-quality stainless steel materials such as 304, 304L, 316, or 316L. These stainless steel grades offer excellent corrosion resistance, mechanical strength, and temperature resistance, making them suitable for various industrial applications.

 

The Reducing Cross features four outlets of different sizes, with three of them having the same larger size and one outlet being smaller. The larger outlets are designed to match the size of the main pipeline, while the smaller outlet acts as the reduced branch connection.

 

The reducing tee and reducing cross have the same function as the straight tee and straight cross, respectively. The key difference is that the branch outlet of a reducing tee or reducing cross is of a smaller pipe size compared to the other three outlets.

 

The reducing tee is used when there is a need to connect pipes of different sizes in a piping system. It allows for the branching of a smaller pipe from a larger main pipe.
